In addition to the 2,171 authors and publishers honored by the Int’l Latino Book Awards since 1998 there’s Latino Books into Movies Awards (since 2010) that has honored 89 books as appropriate for being made into a TV show or movie in 16 different categories. The are judged by directors, producers, screenwriters, and other entertainment professionals. Projects in the entertainment industry tend to take a long time and we are confident that more than a few of these books will end up as a movie or TV show from all the feedback we’ve had.
The International Latino Book Awards are held annually by Latino Literacy Now, a California 501c3 non-profit, in conjunction with Las Comadres para las Americas, and REFORMA: The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking (an affiliate of the American Library Association).

The Award Winning Authors Tour
Over the past decade we have seen steady growth in the overall awareness of the International Latino Book Awards. With the changes we have made to the awards over the past couple of years, and the addition in 2013 of the Award Winning Author Logo and in 2014 we added the Award Winning Author Tour. We understand the Awards are something many people want to know more about. These awards are not only one of the largest Book Awards of any kind in the world, they are also the largest Latino cultural awards in the USA. Winning books will tour to select major book, media, Latino professional, and Latino consumer events in the USA and Mexico.

Wherever possible we will work to get admission to these key events for authors who are finalists and past AWAs. We treat all finalists as winners for all activities on this tour.

About the Latino Book Into Movie Awards
Many of us would love to see more movies being produced that star Latinos and feature Latino themes. Realizing that many movies start with a great book, Latino Literacy Now has created a second competition within the framework of its International Latino Book Awards: the Latino Books Into Movies Awards
Judges for these awards will include screenwriters, playwrights, producers, and other entertainment industry professionals.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Winning books will be distributed to pertinent Motion Picture Studios, Television Networks, Producers, and Agents, depending on genre. Winners agree to supply an additional 15 books (minimum) to assure proper distribution. Awards will not necessarily be given in each category that receives entries; only books and screenplays that the judges feel merit being made into a movie or television show will be judged a winning entry.
The application period ended for this year.
